Sunway Hotel revisited

24 September - 26 September 2011

The 2 main reasons why this hotel was chosen was because of its price at RM 161.27 per night from Agoda.com & the location where one can just walk out the entrance & there is lots of food.

The staff seemed ok & efficient.  The breakfast also seemed to have improved from 2 years ago with more variety.

The last time I stayed, the rooms seemed better maybe because I remembered the Deluxe e-Room more & with its private breakfast area. Previous post: http://gblog.gpros.net/?p=198

The standard Deluxe had only the bare room without slippers, safe, ironing board, newspapers (only free Sun newspapers) & anything in the fridge. The shampoo also seemed diluted. Only shampoo, shower gel, soap, shower cap & hair dryer were given for the toiletries. Thus, I do not think it can be rated a 4 star hotel. The TV’s picture was distorted & the room looked visibly old. Though I saw the notice that the hotel was under renovation, I could not see any work taking place.

In summary, if one can fork out an additional  RM 40 a night, I would definitely recommend Gurney Hotel which is at RM 200 per night for Citibank credit card members. I also read from reviews that Berjaya Georgetown hotel has also been renovated which may make it better than Sunway now. If & when I find out that the hotels been really renovated, I may give it another try if the price is still the same.
