Started in Low Yat Plaza and expanding its crawl to PJ, Hainan Tea is giving out very good opening promo (about 50%) everyday since August till 08 September. You just need to add RM1 to enjoy the signiture drinks: Hainan Tea, coffee etc

Breakfast RM1.90 with the choices of:
Trio brown toast (generous kaya, butter, peanut butter in 3 toasts)
2 omega half boiled eggs with steam sesame wholemeal bun
2 Egg miyo in rolled toast
Chee cheong fun

Lunch RM3.90 with the choice of:
Steam Hainan chicken with oil rice
Steam Hainan chicken with noodle soup (N/A)
Nasi lemak with sausage
Chee cheong fun with XO sauce
Tuna miyo thick toast

Dinner RM5.90
Mutton curry with noodles
BBQ roast chicken with rice
etc

We have tried the breakfast and lunch sets, I would say the food taste & presentation is beyond many cafe’s standards, extra points for the good impressions of the photos on their menu, and not forgetting the nice and comfy sofas and chairs. The environment definitely looks much elegant than the original outlet in Low Yat, not far from some coffee chains.

The sincerity of the business is also shown from bosses who are running the shows and serving customers unlike most of the franchaised cafes, and staff seems to be local malays if not wrong, another credits

Nevertheless, we do have many bad experiences with the services:

1. We noticed that our orders are missed after seeing many tables are served. So we asked many times and the drinks finally came, but the food still to no avail. Thus we left no choice but to call one of the bosses around after waiting about 20minutes. The boss is kind enough to apologise and explain the order slip might have flown! When we settled the bill with the boss, a staff came back with wrong change for three times, if not more, laugh!

2. We were told no more promotion breakfast when we arrived on one of the public holiday morning around 10 or 10.30am. There is no more bread in the house even if I wanted to order from ala-carte!

3. During a visit this morning, the half-boiled eggs promotion is running out due to eggs out of stock at about 9.10am, so we changed the order. However we did see people who came before and after us were served with half-boiled eggs. Is it another co-incidence?

Promotion: from now until 8 September, for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday

Low Yat Plaza
Bandar Puteri Puchong - Opening soon

Service : 2/5

Originally occupied by Sri Siam restaurant for ages, the dim sum eatery that built up its name among Puchong population has chosen this special food heritage row in SS2 for his very first branch, just open on 17th April 2010.

For a short intro to food trailers or as tourist tips, you can find countless of old timers in just one street: New Formosa Taiwanese Restaurant, Sri Siam Thai Restaurant, Nyonya Restaurant, behind the shops are also famous lobster specialist Lobsterman, Teow Chew Ming for Penang porridge and mee sua, Tian Ping Cafe for Mee Bok, etc etc. On top of that, they are highly blogged and recommended.

We waited eagerly for this day and took the priviledge to patronise this place on the first day of its opening and it was jam packed for the whole day (do not espect discount / promotion for new opening though). The boss was there to get feedback and also some familar faces from Puchong HQ.

Well food wise, personally, there is still alot of room to improve especially the loh mai kai where it was too heavy laden with black sauce (you can see for yourself in the photo, far behind..) until it looks black as compared to Puchong HQ’s, although the boss assured that they are made from Puchong as well :p

Situated same row as KTZ dessert (from Kepong) and Maybank in SS2, and moved from Desa Sri Hartamas 2 year ago, this place has been existed in SS2 for a considerably long time with constant customer flow.

I bet you will definitely find it unbelievable but I have tried it and there is NO CONDITION attached! It does not tastes superb but not bad though, comes with typical spring onions and crispy char kuih (you tiau), it is one of their popular item as well. So what are you waiting for, just head down to SS2 for a healthy & yet authentic breakfast!

There are four popular porridge for your choices on different days, 8.30am-10.30am:

Mon - Pork and century eggs (my favourite)

Tue - Shredded chicken with braised peanuts

Wed - Fish slices (yee sang)

Thurs - Hong Kong mix style (teng chai)

You may also want to try their dim sum, Glutinous Rice (loh meh kei), and BBQ bun (char siew bao) but the bao skin is not as good as before…it tastes one kind..

3 February 2010

Just hot out of the oven at max opened 6 months ago in SS2 is Hong Kong Desset (Tim Pan Kor Kor). Ironically, it is on the same row & same block as KTZ or better known as Kei Tak Sek which also serves Hong Kong desserts, I wonder why.

Anyhow, if my memory serves me right, this place was very packed when it first opened end 2009. Last night when I decided to give this place a visit, it was about three quarters full, still not too bad I suppose. The decor is simple & bright, a reminiscence of the previous cafe which occupied the same lot. All of the chairs and tools also appeared to be bought from Ikea. Back to the food, the mixed tong yuen that I ordered at RM6 which came with 6 pieces was very fine & bursting with the fillings like sweet groundnuts & black sessame paste. The soup or syrup that comes with it is great too with quite a tangy ginger taste in it. Apart from that, the Durian Ice at RM6.50 ordered was flavourful & creamy with just the right amount of milk, until now I am still wondering if it is actual fruits blended in or concentrate / powder.

Same row as KTZ or Kei Tak Sek facing the SS2 Medan Selera or SS2 Wai Sek Kai
11 January 2010

The latest outlet to join in the craze of sets & more sets is Prince cafe in SS2. Not only they have breakfast from 9am to 11am & tea time sets from 3pm to 6pm, but they also have supper sets from 10pm till closing. As some may already know, they have had lunch sets as far as I can remember Prince cafe existed.

The drinks like coffee & tea are a far cry from Wong Kok’s & the food is pretty decent too for most items except the fried noodle with seafood sauce which was just mediocre & not much ingredients in it. Thus far, the Pork Chop burger in “Macau” style was tasty with a chunky piece of porkchop in it & the egg sandwich was great with lots of eggs in it. I also did remembered that the cheese baked rice was on par with Kim Gary’s standard too, can anyone comment on that now?

Sadly, I do not remember seeing similar promotions in the Metro Prima branch in Kepong, thus, I would just put this promo applicable to the SS2 branch unless someone could let me know if is the same elsewhere. Prices for tea time snacks range from Rm4.90 to RM9.90 which comes with coffee, tea, lemon tea or soft drinks. Prices from breakfast & supper sets on the other hand start from RM3.90 to RM6.90 which also comes with the same drinks
