Set lunch @ Eagle’s Nest Steakhouse, Damansara Perdana

13 Feb 2008

Eagle’s Nest SteakhouseSet A: Streaky beef

This steakhouse is said established in Langkawi in 1995 (it was closed few years ago) and extended to KL in 2005 or 2006. They gain their reputation for fresh quality food, excelent cook, and perfect cuts of steak. The chef-cum-owner is Joe Liew who has spent many years in Europe. You can find more on their background and reviews in friedchillies. I have been to this area often but never dare to try Eagle’s Nest eventhough the set lunch promotion is reasonable. It is always found empty.

By not regreting in the future and helping to keep the good restaurants surviving in case it is good (I always have this little thought: we should support and promote any good food just like why I am doing this foodblog, let alone this potential fine dining place which has no luck of business), I finally made my step to try it after CNY 2008. We ordered set lunch A and B each.

Mushroom Soup with Garlic breadFor set A (RM17.90), I ordered streaky beef which comes with spiced rice & salad, mushroom soup and garlic bread, and soft drink/tea/coffee; set B (RM16.90) is marinara sphagetti with the rest. Our first surprise is the starter. The soup is not only tasty but also comes with abundant of mushrooms! I am also quite surprise with fragrant garlic bread, perhaps it’s another secret recipe using fresh and quality ingredients. For my main course, the streaky beef is grilled on extremely high heat to create a nice crust outside,  and it is prepared with plenty of herbs which compliement very well with the steak, but not overpower the steak. It is equally tasty from inside out. The only hintch is it is abit hard to bite as they made it well done for me. My partner is Set B: Marinara Spaghettialso satisfied with the marinara sphegetti which gives generous amount of fresh seafood & tasty.

It is definitely a good experience for quality lunch with great value and we are filled to the brim. Pricing wise, I found the prices for set lunches have hardly been revised since 2006 compared to the one given by friedchillies. Well, what can I say more…. I will come back for more steaks, escargots and pumpkin seafood soup.
