Ice Kacang & Chendul @ off Penang Road. Yummy!

famous teochew chendul20 December 2007

This is an all time favourite as long as I can remember, Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul. As seen from the photo, these 2 rival stalls has been there for ages & always if the right stall is too packed, sometimes the patrons would not bother waiting & just go opposite to the other less popular stall. Thus, this stall needs special mention & on top of that, according to its web site http://www.penangnet.com/chendul/ it even has got 6 branches in Penang, Johor & Selangor!

Apparently, the method of cooking the big red beans stayed equally original all these years, the reason why it tastes so great & does not need any further chendulexplanation. The red beans, now mixture of big & more smaller ones, are exceptionally sweet & tasty when bitten into. Furthermore, the ice kacang is also equally as good & cheap with a good blend of sarsi & red syrup taste as well as lots of ingredients together with its signature beans. Price for chendul is RM 1.70 and ice kacang is RM 1.90, while if is take-away, it is 20 sen more.

Another stall worth mentioning is the fried kuey teow or stir fried flat noodles seen on the right, it is equally delicious as well!
